Es ist zwar noch nicht annähernd Dezember und Weihnachten ist noch etwas entfernt, dennoch ist es früh genug, sich in Weihnachtsstimmung zu versetzen. Und das klappt mit Netflix eigentlich ganz gut.
It’s a while until the December 1st and christmas is still a couple of days away, but it’s early enough to get cozy and relax with some christmas movies. And that is a thing well done with the help of Netflix.

Mein erster Weihnachtsfilmausflug hörte auf den Titel „Prinzessinnentausch“ und führte mich in das fiktive Land Belgravia und zu Stacy DeNovo und Herzogin Margaret (beide dargestellt von Vanessa Hudgens). Die Story ist recht schnell erzählt: Stacy ist eine begabte Bäckerin und soll an einem internationalen Backwettbewerb teilnehmen. Sie trifft zufällig auf Margret, die ihre Zwillingsschwester sein könnte. Stacy beschließt, der Herzogin zu helfen, die vor ihrer Hochzeit mit dem Prinzen des Landes noch das wirkliche Leben kennenlernen möchte. Beide tauschen ihre Leben: Stacy genießt für 2 Tage das Leben im Palast und Margaret versucht sich im normalen Leben von Stacy und muss Stacy’s besten Freund Kevin und seine Tochter von sich überzeugen.
My first travel into the christmas world goes by the title of „The Princess Switch“ and led me to the fictional country of Belgravia and to Stacy DeNovo and Duchess Margaret (both played by Vanessa Hudgens). The story is nothing special, but lovely: Stacy is a talented baker with her own shop and she gets invited to an international competition in Belgravia. As it happens, she meets Margaret, who could be her twin-sister. Stacy decides to help the Duchess, who wants to live a normal life for a few days before her wedding with the prince. So both switch lifes and the story continues….

During their time in the different lifes both – Stacy and Margaret – get to relax a little and get to know themselves better and also are able to bring a lovely time and some more insights to the people around them. But…. time for the final switch comes closer…

Definitiv ist „Prinzessinnentausch“ eine Empfehlung, wenn es um Weihnachtsfilme geht.
„The Princess Switch“ is definitely a recommendation, if you are looking for a lovely christmas movie.

Mein zweiter Filmtipp führt mich an den Nordpol, wo eine junge Elfe den Auftrag erhält, einer arbeitseifrigen Frau ihr Weihnachtsgefühl und ihr Leben zurückzugeben.
Die Hauptrolle in „Northpole: Weihnachten geöffnet“ spielt Lori Loughlin, die viele vielleicht aus „Full House“ und der Fortsetzung „Fuller House“ als Becky kennen.
In diesem Weihnachtsfilm ist sie Mackenzie, eine Karrierefrau, die hauptsächlich aus Umzugskartons lebt – obwohl sie schon ein Jahr in ihrer neuen Wohnung wohnt und ihre Arbeit über alles stellt.
Kurz vor Weihnachten erbt sie das Hotel ihrer Tante. Ihr erster Plan: verkaufen.
Aber dieser Plan steht im Gegensatz zu den Plänen von Santa Clause, der das Hotel als Aufladestation für seinen Weihnachtsflug mit den Rentieren benötigt.
Jetzt kommt Elfe Clem(entine) ins Spiel: sie erhält den Auftrag, Mackenzie von der Liebe und Magie von Weihnachten zu überzeugen, das Hotel zu retten und somit auch Santas weihnachtliche Reiseroute zu sichern.
My second movie – definitely a recommendation – led me to the Northpole, where a young elf is supposed to save a woman from working too much in the wrong field and getting her christmas spirit back.
The leading part of „Northpole: Open for christmas“ is played by Lori Loughlin, whom you may know as aunt Becky from „Full House“ and the sequel „Fuller House“.
In this wonderful movie she plays Mackenzie, a woman who is kind of a workaholic with no real life who has most of her belongings in boxes, even though she lives nearly a year in her flat.
Shortly before christmas she inherits the hotel of her aunt. First plan for her: sell the house.
But this plan is not the right plan for Santa Clause, who wants to save the house because its a reload station for his yearly christmas route with his reindeers.
So that is where elf Clem(entine) comes in: she is supposed to get love and meaning back into Mackenzie’s life – and save the hotel for the sake of Santas christmas route.

Auch „Northpole: Weihnachten geöffnet“ ist ein Herzensfilm, der an die Weihnachtsstimmung appelliert – und diese sollte man nicht nur zu Weihnachten haben.
Wie Elfe Clem richtig feststellt: Erwachsene verlieren die Freude und Weihnachten ist dann nur noch ein weiterer Tag im Kalender.
„Northpole: Open for Christmas“ is a heartwarming movie, which calls for christmas spirit – not only this time of the year.
And thats how elf Clem puts it right: Grown-ups lose the happiness and christmas is just another day in the calendar.

Weihnachtsfilme sind Filme fürs Herz – und diese zwei sind definitiv eine Sehempfehlung.
Christmas movies are movies for the heart – and these two are definitely a recommendation.
