Let’s talk music!
Luke Evans ist ein großartiger Schauspieler – und das nicht erst seit der Disney-Verfilmung von „Die Schöne und das Biest“ und seiner Rolle als Gaston. Ich warte noch immer auf die Fortsetzung zu „Dracula: Untold“ und Lukes Rückkehr zu seiner Rolle als Vlad in einem Film, der meiner Meinung nach viel zu wenig Beachtung fand.
Nun hat Luke Evans sich auch in die Reihen derer begeben, die mit ihrer Stimme die Menschen begeistern.
Luke Evans is an amazing actor – and that is a fact not just since he took the role of Gaston in „The Beauty and the Beast“. I am still patiently waiting for the sequel to „Dracula: Untold“ and Luke getting back to portraying Vlad Dracula in a movie that sadly didn’t get that much praise from the audience.
Now Luke Evans has stepped into the world of those who are passionate and talented to thrill the audience with their voice.
In seinem Debütalbum „At Last“ widmet sich der walisische Sänger und Schauspieler musikalischen Klassikern, Ohrwürmern – Liedern, die jeder irgendwann von anderen Größen der Musikwelt gehört hat und gibt ihnen seinen eigenen Klang.
On his debut album „At Last“ the welsh singer and actor shows us classics, catchy tunes – songs that everyone heard at some time, sung by the great singers of our time and grant them his own sound.
Da haben wir Pat Benatars „Love is a Battlefield“, das durch Lukes wunderbare Stimme dieselbe Kraft ausstrahlt wie Pat Benatars Version – jedoch eine ganz andere Emotion transportiert und dabei nicht weniger großartig klingt. Eine sehr gute Wahl für den ersten Titel dieses Albums.
Auch die weiteren Tracks sind nicht weniger stark und gefühlvoll – hier mal meine Highlights:
At first we have the wonderful song „Love is a Battlefield“ originally sung by Pat Benatar, which has the same powerful energy to it now Luke sings it. There is another emotion transported by Lukes version, but nevertheless it sounds amazing. A wonderful choice for the first title of this album.
The other tracks are also full of energy and emotion – here are some of my highlights:
* „Kissing you“, bekannt aus der wunderbaren „Romeo und Julia“-Verfilmung mit Leonardo DiCaprio und Claire Danes. Im Original gesungen von Des’ree wirkt er von einer Frau gesungen natürlich noch einmal anders als von Lukes starker Stimme, dennoch könnte auch dieses Lied in seiner Version nicht gefühlvoller sein.
# You know „Kissing you“ from the movie „Romeo and Juliet“ with Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes. The movie version was sung by Des’ree and it surely feels different hearing that sung by a woman vs. hearing it sung by Luke with his powerful voice, but at the same time this song couldn’t be more soulful – sit back and enjoy.
* „If I could turn back time“ – jeder kennt wohl diesen Song von Cher und hat das Musikvideo vor Augen: ein großartiger Song, der von Luke Evans einen etwas balladigeren Ton verpasst bekommt, diese Version aber von der tollen Stimme ebenso getragen wird wie Chers Version.
# Everyone knows „If I could turn back time“ by Cher and has the music video before the inner eye – a great song and Lukes version is a little bit more a ballad but definitely a catchy one. His voice fits this song perfectly and this balad version shows a different meaning to it which is even more beautiful than Chers version.
* „Show me Heaven“ ist ein weiterer Favorit von mir, mag ich doch die Version von Jessica Andrews sehr gerne und auch Luke Evans schafft es, eine wundervoll kraftvolle Version zu präsentieren, die nichts vermissen lässt.
# I am a sucker for good music in tv-series – „Show me Heaven“ will always be linked in my memory with Jessica Andrews and Dawsons Creek. But Luke Evans has made the thing – his wonderful voice made this version absolutely great and will be forever my nr. 2!
* „Changing“ – hier kannte ich das Lied vorher nicht – zumindest nicht vom Namen her – aber auch dies ist ein kraftvolles Lied, mit tiefgehender Botschaft. Luke Evans transportiert diese Botschaft mit seiner fantastischen Singstimme sehr passend. Ein richtiger Hörgenuss!
# I didn’t know the name of the song – at least not by its name – „Changing“– but this is a powerful song with a really deep meaning – and Luke Evans transports the meaning with his amazing voice really good – a real gem on this album!
* „With or without you“ – auch hier gibt es von mir nur positive Stimmen – das Original von U2 ist ein Klassiker – und Lukes Version braucht sich nicht zu verstecken – im Gegenteil. Seine besondere Stimme macht diesen Titel zu einer wunderbaren Erfahrung.
# Also this one is a great classic – sung by U2 – and for sure „With or without you“ is just as amazing sung by Luke than it is in the original version. His passionate and powerful voice makes this title a wonderful listening experience.
Luke Evans fantastische Singstimme hat es endlich – at last – in die Musikwelt geschafft und ich bin fest davon überzeugt, dass sie dort auch einige Zeit bleiben wird. Freuen wir uns darauf, in Zukunft mehr von dem talentierten Waliser zu hören – und natürlich zu sehen, denn sein Schauspielerleben wird er nicht an den Nagel hängen.
Luke Evans fantastic singing voice has made it – at last – to the world of musicians and talented singers and I am really convined, that he will stay there for a while. Let’s be happy to hear more of the talented welsh singer and actor in the future regarding music. And for sure – he will not leave the acting business.
